One killed, one injured in Pokhara paraglider accident

Pokhara, November 23

A man died whereas a woman sustained injuries when a paraglider fell onto the land accidentally in Pokhara, Nepal’s tourism capital, on Monday afternoon.

Raju Gaire Nepali, 38, a resident of Lakeside, Pokhara-28, was piloting the glider belonging to Fishtail Paragliding. He died as his glider fell off the sky while landing it from a point above 1.5 kilometres from the land, according to DSP Subas Hamal of the Kaski District Police Office.

Shila Shrestha, 28, from Budhanilakantha-2 of Kathmandu, who was enjoying the popular tourism adventure is critically injured.

Both Gaire Nepali and Shrestha were rescued in a critical condition and rushed to the local Metro City Hospital after the accident, but the pilot was declared dead upon arrival.

Meanwhile, the injured lady has also been airlifted to Kathmandu for further treatment.

Paragliding is one of the most popular activities in Pokhara among tourists, both foreign and domestic alike.
