Oli says he won’t resign anytime soon

Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli

Kathmandu, November 4

Amid reports that a faction in the ruling Nepal Communist Party is preparing to register a no-confidence motion against Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, the prime minister has clarified that he would not resign anytime soon.

Speaking in a function at the Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital in Kathmandu on Wednesday, the prime minister, worried due to growing tensions within his party, said his resignation would mean pushing the country towards destruction.

“Do you think I should resign now? My resignation means letting the country go towards destruction. Hence, I will not resign,” Oli said, “I have been elected, not through conspiracies, but for people’s need through their wide support.”

He repeated that forces inside and outside the country were trying to remove him from the position, adding such efforts would not succeed.
