Kathmandu, February 12

Chairmen of CPN-UML and CPN-Maoist Centre, KP Sharma Oli and Pushpa Kamal Dahal respectively, have held a ‘secret’ meeting in Lalitpur on Monday, during which they reportedly discussed next steps for the unification between two parties.

No other leader was present at the meeting.

Though no information has been divulged about details of the meeting, it has been learned that the discussions were positive. Immediately after the meeting, Dahal telephoned the party’s leaders in provincial legislatures and directed them to cooperate with the UML in the government formation process.

Following Dahal’s instruction, Maoist leader Shalik Ram Jamakattel has joined the new Province 3 government.

The two leaders have been assuring second rung leaders that the unification talks will reach conclusion very soon.
