Oli, Dahal discuss choosing speaker’s candidate

L-R: KP Sharma Oli and Pushpa Kamal Dahal

Kathmandu, January 16

In a bid to end the stalemate regarding the selection of the ruling Nepal Communist Party’s candidate for the speaker of House of Representatives, two chairpersons of the party held a meeting on Thursday.

Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli and the party’s executive chair Pushpa Kamal Dahal discussed how the issue could be resolved, according to a leader privy to the meeting. Results of their meeting are not known immediately.

Dahal had gone to Baluwatar to meeting the prime minister. The two leaders had met last on Sunday.

It has been reported that both the chairpersons have their own choices for the candidate. The problem is further complicated after incumbent Deputy Speaker Shiva Maya Tumbahamphe rejected the party order to resign.
