Old task force launches efforts to solve new dispute in NCP

Kathmandu, November 9

A six-member task force set up in August to suggest solutions to a dispute between two chairpersons of the ruling Nepal Communist Party has been active again after the dispute reappeared.

With the standing committee endorsing the task force’s suggestion, the chairpersons–KP Sharma Oli and Pushpa Kamal Dahal–had come to an agreement ending the months-long dispute about power-sharing between them.

Now, the two chairpersons are at odds again with Dahal accusing Oli of not abiding by the August agreement. On his part, Oli also claims he has been barred from exercising his rights, adding he is the ‘first’ chairperson of the party whereas Dahal is the second one.

Therefore, the task force members decided to launch their efforts to seek a solution on their own, according to Surendra Pandey, a member of the team. Bhim Rawal, Shankar Pokhrel, Janardan Sharma, and Pampha Bhusal are other members of the team led by the party’s general secretary Bishnu Paudel.

After a meeting among them, the task force members are preparing to meet Oli and Dahal today itself.
