No comment on Nepali politics, says Indian envoy

Indian Ambassador to Nepal, Manjeev Singh Puri

Kathmandu, May 24

Indian Ambassador to Nepal, Manjeev Singh Puri, on Wednesday has said he will not make any comment on Nepali politics.

Speaking with journalists in Kathmandu today, Puri said as an ambassador, he should not comment on internal affairs of any country.

The envoy, however, maintained that India was closely watching Nepal, adding, “Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has also given a special importance to Nepal.”

He said the bilateral relationship between two countries was too close and he would contribute to taking it to a new height.

“The Nepal-India relationship is so harmonious socially, culturally, economically and religiously,” he said, “It will be stronger in upcoming days.”

Puri presented six high-level visits exchanged between the two nations in past six months as evidence of the historic ties.

Meanwhile, the Ambassador said India always wished for Nepal’s increasing economic growth.
