The government has decided to not open advance bus ticket booking for people willing to travel to their hometowns to celebrate the annual Dashain festival this year.

Customarily, the government used to open advance ticket booking ahead of the festival. However, there would not be such option available as the number of passengers is low due to the coronavirus infection fears, informs the Department of Transport Management.

“If you go to the bus park and ask for any ticket, the companies will give it to you easily,” the department’s spokesperson Lok Nath Bhusal says, “Therefore, making a formal decision about advance ticket booking is not necessary this year.”

However, passengers have complained of unavailability of tickets and excessive prices.

The department has said the public should register their complaints with traffic police if they feel cheated regarding the ticket price. Bhusal says the department has established passenger help desks in 10 places of the valley.
