Kathmandu, December 18

The mother of the Bhimduttanagar teenager who was raped and murdered in July this year has filed a complaint against police officials involved in the initial investigation of the case.

According to police, Nirmala Pant’s mother Durga Devi filed a complaint against police officials including SP Dilli Raj Bista, DSP Angur GC and Inspector Jagadish Bhatta at the District Police Office, Kanchanpur, on Tuesday. Durga Devi has accused the officials of obstructing justice.

Kanchanpur DSP Krishna Raj Ojha told Onlinekhabar that the complaint is being discussed by police. According to sources, the officials could be arrested by police to investigate the complaint. The two officials had been relieved of their responsibility after a government committee formed to investigate the murder found them guilty of mishandling the case.
The duo has filed an application with the Council of Ministers seeking reinstatement. The government is yet to decide on the application. The duo has said that they adhered to Nepal Police standards while investigating the case.
