NEPSE: Record turnover of Rs 15 billion; 5 companies see 10% price surge

On Thursday, the final day of the week’s trading, the turnover in the stock market reached Rs 15.0054 billion. This transaction amount marks the highest recorded in 35 months, since August 2021. The previous day, the turnover was Rs 12.005 billion.

Following this transaction, the NEPSE index rose by 59.68 points, settling at 2424 points. This NEPSE figure represents the highest level observed in 27 months. Of the listed companies, 143 saw an increase in value, 95 saw a decrease, and 5 remained unchanged.

Among the sectors, the banking group index saw the most significant increase, rising by 6.28 per cent. Development banks increased by 1.31 per cent, hotels and tourism by 1.04 per cent, life insurance by 1.29 per cent, products by 1.17 per cent, microfinance by 2.77 per cent, non-life insurance by 1.05 per cent, other sectors by 2.30 per cent, and the business group by 0.46 per cent.

Conversely, the finance sector index decreased by 1.27 per cent, while the hydropower group index remained slightly negative. During the day’s trading, the stock prices of 5 companies increased by 10 per cent. These companies include Nepal Investment Mega Bank, Nepal Finance, Akhukhola Jalvidyut, Upkar Laguvitt, and Threestar Hydropower. Additionally, Kumari and Prabhu Bank saw increases of 9.5 per cent in their stock prices.

Ranked by transaction amount, Nepal Finance, Upper Tamakoshi, Ngadi Group, Sign Resunga Development Bank and Kumari Bank led the market.
