The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index dropped by 11.97 points on Wednesday, closing at 2,646. Alongside the drop in index points, total turnover also decreased. While Tuesday’s trading volume stood at Rs 6.67 billion, it fell to Rs 5.16 billion today.
Share prices of 66 companies rose, 181 declined, and one remained unchanged. Most sectoral indices recorded a decline. Finance companies saw the biggest dip, falling by 0.90%. Other notable drops included Banking (0.59%), Development Bank (0.71%), Hotels and Tourism (0.47%), Hydropower (0.39%), Investment (0.08%), Life Insurance (0.48%), Microfinance (0.82%), Non-Life Insurance (0.68%), and Others (0.54%).
The trade sector was the only one to post a notable gain, rising by 0.49%, driven by a price increase in Bishal Bazar Company. Only two companies—Bishal Bazar and Salt Trading Corporation—are listed in this sector.
Among top gainers, Om Megashree Pharmaceuticals and Pure Energy each rose by 10%. Super Madi Hydropower climbed 7.34%, Arun Kabeli Power rose 3.39%, and Mai Khola Hydropower gained 2.8%.
Meanwhile, Corporate Development Bank fell by 5.81%, Mid Solu Hydropower dropped 3.70%, Upakar Laghubitta declined 3.40%, and Samudayik Laghubitta lost 3.30%.
Companies with the highest trading volumes included Arun Kabeli Hydropower, Radhi Power, Ngadi Group, Universal Power, and Barun Hydropower.
