NEPSE index rises as share transactions cross Rs 10 Billion

Nepal’s stock market saw a notable surge in trading volume on Sunday, with the total turnover crossing Rs 10 billion. Compared to the previous day’s Rs 7.87 billion, today’s turnover reached Rs 10.87 billion, marking an increase of nearly Rs 3 billion. Despite the heavy trading, the NEPSE index posted only a modest gain of 3.58 points, closing at 2,661 points after touching an intraday high of 2,684 points.

The investment sector led the gains, while the finance sector experienced the sharpest decline. The banking sector rose by 0.39 per cent and development banks by 0.02 per cent. In contrast, the finance sector fell by 1.05 per cent, life insurance by 0.11 per cent, microfinance by 0.94 per cent, non-life insurance by 0.33 per cent, and the others group declined by 0.57 per cent. Meanwhile, the hotel and tourism sector gained 0.38 per cent, hydropower rose by 1.06 per cent, investment by 1.77 per cent, manufacturing by 0.41 per cent, and trading by 1.18 per cent.

Nepal Micro Insurance and Crest Micro Life Insurance shares surged by 10 per cent. Other notable gainers included Bhugol Energy, Ngadi Group Power, Sanima Mai Hydropower, and Arun Valley Hydropower. Win Nepal Microfinance shares plunged by 10 per cent, while Narayani Development shares fell by 5.02 per cent.
