Nepal’s solar energy promoter wins $ 100,000 grant at Amsterdam competition

Representatives of the First Solar Developers, a Nepali company, win a prize at a competition, in Amsterdam, in February 2018.

Kathmandu, February 21

A Nepali solar energy promotion company has won a grant worth USD 100,000 at an international competition held in Amsterdam, the capital city of Netherlands, recently.

First Solar Developers Pvt. Ltd. won the Solar Shark Tank competition, ‘Making Solar Bankable International Event 2018’.

The company became the winner among 40 companies representing 24 countries. The event was organised by FMO, Access Power and Solar Plaza jointly.

In the first round of the event, the company submitted a work plan for 10 MW Bhrikuti ground mounted solar project’s including its technical details and a research paper on impacts of integrated agriculture farm on socio-economic aspects.

Then, the organisers had selected top three companies and made them to make presentation on their ideas followed by a question-answer session. The Nepali company’s Chief Executive Officer Raj Kumar Thapa presentation and work plan was  declared the best by a four-member jury.

The success achieved  by a private company in the international forum  is a matter of pride to the nation as well,  says the company’s Media and Public Relations Coordinator Kaushal Pant.
