Nepali team leaves for Australia to participate in World Rafting Championship

Kathmandu, May 7

An eight-member Nepali team including seven athletes has left for Queensland, Australia to participate in the World Rafting Championship.

Shakti Kumar Gurung, Padam Bahadur Gurung, Dipesh Gurung, Sabin Gurung, Sunil Gurung and Rabil Miya will take part in 250 metres sprint, 350 metres head to head, 450 metres slalom and 21-25 metres down river race.

This is the second time Nepal is participating in the World Rafting Championship. Nepal had participated in the championship held in Japan in 2017.

A total of 29 countries are participating in the championship.

Minister for Youth and Sports, Jagat Bahadur Sunar Bishwakarma on Monday bid farewell to the team.
