Nepali football team barred from travelling to the UK due to visa delay

Kathmandu, April 30

Members of the Nepali football team could not go to England for practice matches as their visas did not arrive on time.

The Nepali players were preparing to leave for the UK on different flights on Tuesday at 9:30 am, 1 pm and 7 pm. However, due to the lack of visas, the players, coaches and officials were stopped, said Suresh Shah, spokesperson of the All Nepal Football Association (ANFA).

British Embassy in India issues visas for a team of 35 people including Nepali players. Due to the delay in the arrival of their visas from India, they could not board the scheduled flight.

Spokesperson Shah said that preparations are being made to send the players to Britain at 2 pm on Tuesday itself. Nepal is about to go there to play a practice match with England’s C team.
