Nepali Congress student wing: Disgruntled faction seeks clarification from President

File: Nain Singh Mahar and Manoj Mani Acharya

Kathmandu, January 14

The dispute between two factions of Nepali Congress’ student wing, Nepal Students Union, has intensified as the disgruntled faction has sought a clarification from the organisation’s President Nain Singh Mahar.

The faction led by Manoj Mani Acharya has accused the President of forming various committees against the statute and appointing central members, involving in illegal and immoral financial transactions and contributing to the loss of mother party’s official candidates in recent local, provincial and federal polls.

The Acharya faction has appointed Rajesh Rauniyar as the chief of Disciplinary Committee and issued a letter to Mahar commanding him to furnish the panel with the clarification in next three days. The letter was issued on Saturday.

Meanwhile, Mahar says he has been leading the organisation following the statute, adding some voices of dissatisfaction are natural during the process of ‘purification’. He also warns of taking action against those who violated the discipline.

He says Rauniyar’s panel is not official.
