Nepali Congress expresses solidarity with agitating doctors

Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba in Dadeldhura, November 19, 2017.

Kathmandu, September 3

Nepali Congress chief Sher Bahadur Deuba says his party supports the ongoing agitation by doctors demanding changes in some of the provisions of the new civil code.

Deuba, who was speaking to mediapersons in Chitwwan on Monday, said that the government should fulfil the doctors’ demands. “The government should address the legitimate demands of the doctors,” added the Congress president.

Deuba criticised the government for failing to address important issues facing the country. He said that the government had failed to book culprits involved in heinous crime.

On the international front, however, the government is not doing bad, he told mediapersons. He said that the BIMSTEC Summit in Kathmandu was successful. The former Prime Minister said his party has no objection to Nepal’s participation in the BIMSTEC military drill.
