Nepali Congress deadlock: Representatives of Deuba, Paudel hold talks

L-R: Nepali Congress leaders Bimalendra Nidhi and Prakash Man Singh

Kathmandu, December 16

In their bid to end the deadlock recently seen in Nepali Congress, both factions of the party have expedited meetings with each-other. On Monday morning, confidants of party president Sher Bahadur Deuba and Ram Chandra Paudel held a meeting to discuss their differences.

The Paudel side has been boycotting the party’s central working committee meeting for the past few weeks, demanding that the meeting discuss a plan for the 14th general convention as the number one agenda item. Deuba is not ready as he wants to extend the term of his presidency.

Amidst this situation, the Paudel side has formed a team led by Prakash Man Singh to hold talks with the party leadership whereas Deuba has assigned vice-president Bimalendra Nidhi to solve the issue. Nidhi went to Singh’s house in Chaksibari this morning and they made some progress towards solving the issue, according to leaders.

Now, Nidhi will update the developments to Deuba and Paudel before reaching a conclusion, it has been learned.
