Nepali Army unit in Sudan mission receives UN medal

Kathmandu, December 14

The Nepali Army’s peacekeeping force deployed in Rombek of South Sudan has been awarded the United Nations Medal for outstanding performance.

United Nations Force Commander in South Sudan, Lieutenant General Frank Mushyo Kamanzi awarded the Medal to the Nepali Army amid a function in Rombek recently, the United Nations said.

Nepal has been sending troops to UN peacekeeping operations since 1958 and it has participated in 42 peace-keeping operations so far. The Nepali Army is currently deployed in 14 locations, under the flag of the United Nations.
