Nepal warns of blacklisting climbers for ‘indignities’ on Everest

A tourism official of Nepal has warned that the government may blacklist climbers and agencies if they are found involved in any activities that disrespect the pride and dignity of Mount Everest, the highest peak of the world.

At a time when the top of the world is reported to be overcrowded with climbers from across the world passionate to create different records, Meera Acharya, Director at Department of Tourism, says the government is seriously discussing the need to control illegal and immoral activities.

Acharya warns that the government could blacklist climbers who already made records by doing ‘illegal or immoral’ activities on the mountain.

“Mount Everest is the head for the entire world. If anyone challenges the moral height of Everest, this is a mean act,” she says, “We have been collecting pictures and videos about who did what on the peak.”

Acharya says the government does not know any world record on Everest this season except the 23rd climb by Kami Rita Sherpa.
