Nepal to issue ‘special policy’ on women

Parbat Gurung

Kathmandu, February 5

The Minister for Women, Children and Social Security Parbat Gurung has said the government is preparing to issue a ‘special policy’ on women. He says the policy will introduce the programmes that would help the government realise its goal of ‘prosperous Nepal: happy Nepali’.

Speaking at a function in Lalitpur on Wednesday, Gurung said the government was committed to ending various harmful social practices such as witchcraft, dowry system and child marriage.

Meanwhile, he stated that the government was planning to develop the field of social service also as a national pride project that would contribute to the country’s prosperity. “I will request all the concerned parties to provide needful suggestions for that,” he said.
