Kathmandu, December 23

The government of Nepal is preparing to deport murder convict French citizen Charles Sobhraj, who has just been released after completing a 20-year sentence in Kathmandu.

Once sent back to his homeland, the serial killer will be barred from entering the country forever, according to officials.

To initiate the process of deporting him, Sobhraj is being taken to the Department of Immigration on Friday.

The department’s acting chief Pradarshani Kumari says the criminal will be barred from his next entry into Nepal as the existing immigration law allows the department to make a such decision about people involved in criminal cases.

As per the Supreme Court order on Wednesday, Charles Sobhraj needs to be sent back to his country in the next 15 days.

Sobhraj, however, wants to spend some more time in Kathmandu and undergo medical treatment for his heart problems here itself, according to the sources close to him.
