Kathmandu, May 24

Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has called an all-party meeting at Singhadurbar on Tuesday. The government has invited parties, including the main opposition Nepali Congress and Madheshi parties on agitation.

The meeting, scheduled to start at 10.30 am, will discuss the budget for the fiscal 2073-74 BS. It will also delve into the Federal Alliance’s movement and the current political crises, the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers said.

Pramod Dahal, Prime Minister Oli’s press adviser, said the meeting will focus more on ways to address the alliance’s demands than on issues related to the budget.

The government has invited parties to take part in the meeting through email, Dahal told Onlinekhabar, adding that PM Oli had also extended the invite to the parties separately.

The invitation for talks comes at a time when the alliance has been staging a Kathmandu-centric movement.

In a formal letter sent to the United Democratic Madheshi Front on Monday evening, PM Oli said his government is positive on resolving the problems on the basis of talks held in the past. Oli said he is committed to finding a way out through talks.

Before writing to the UDMF, PM Oli had held talks with Mahantha Thakur, president of the Tarai-Madhesh Democratic Party President, a UDMF partner, for two hours. The talks took place after Thakur’s return from New Delhi.
