Kathmandu, August 14

Prime Minister and CPN-Maoist Centre Chair Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ is expanding his Cabinet for the third time, on Sunday. This time, he is inducting five ministers from his party, CPN-Maoist Centre, into the Cabinet.

Prachanda’s Secretariat informed that the five ministers — Janardan Sharma ‘Prabhakar’, Hit Raj Pandey, Ram Karki, DR Poudel and Ajaya Shankar Nayak — will take the oath of office and secrecy at Sital Niwas, the Presidential Palace, at 3 pm on Sunday.

Prabhakar will head the Ministry of Energy, whereas Karki, Pandey Poudel and Nayak will head Information and Communications Technology, Local Developmet, Education and Law Ministries, respectively.

The Maoist party already has Krishna Bahadur Mahara (Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance), Dal Jit Sripaili (Minister for Youth and Sports) and Gauri Shankar Chaudhary (Minister for Agriculture) in the Prachanda government.

Prachanda has chosen to expand the Cabinet, though the Nepali Congress, busy with the general convention of its sister organisation, Nepal Students’ Union, has yet to pick more ministers from its fold.
