The Parliament will hold discussions on the budget for the fiscal 2073-74 BS on Monday. The KP Sharma Oli government had presented the budget worth around Rs 10 trillion in the Parliament on Saturday.
Lawmakers from political parties represented in the Parliament will comment on the budget on Monday. Finance Minister Bishnu Poudel will answer budget-related questions within June 1.
It should be noted that the main opposition Nepali Congress has criticised the budget, describing it as populist and impossible to implement. It says there’s financial risk associated with the bubget in the absence of capacity to spend. While the NC says the huge budget will be difficult to implement, parties in the ruling coalition are busy defending the budget.
The government has drawn fire from several quarters for hiking salary of government employees and increasing perks for lawmakers, among others.
