At Nepal Parliament, demand for a raise, customs waiver on import of vehicles for lawmakers

A Member of Parliament on Thursday urged the government to import vehicles for MPs by waiving customs.

Speaking at the Parliament, Prem Kishor Sah Teli, lawmaker from the Nepali Congress, made this demand. Lawmakers cannot keep waiting for tempos to move around, he said, urging the government to let them buy vehicles by waiving customs.prem-kishor-prasad-teli

The lawmaker also demanded the government to increase their salary and allowances. Newspapers have reported that lawmakers have got a raise, but we have not got it, he claimed.

He said: We get Rs 6,500 monthly as housing allowance and this was fixed 22 years ago. The monthly allowance is Rs 200, but we get Rs 170 only after tax deduction.
