Nepal-India petroleum pipeline to come into operation by mid-June

Birgunj, April 29

The construction of underground petroleum pipeline from Motihari, India to Amlekhgunj, Nepal is ongoing at a high speed.

Officials have targeted to launch the pipeline operation by mid-June.

So far, the pipe laying has been over along a 65 km section. The pipeline in total would be 70 km long.

Works are yet to be done along the five km span of Parsa National Park, informs Sharad Poudel, engineer of petroleum pipeline expansion project in Simara.

Total 6,500 trees of the park are being cut down for the project.

Ashok Kumar Ram, the park’s Assistant Conservation Officer, shares that the Nepal Oil Corporation has compensated around Rs 13.97 million to replant 147,200 saplings within the national park area.
