Nepali tennis team to prepare for 20th Asian Games in India

Kathmandu, August 20

Nepal’s tennis team will head to Bengaluru, India, to prepare for the 20th Asian Games being held in Japan.

A four-member Nepali tennis team, including three players, will travel to Bengaluru on Thursday for foreign training ahead of the Asian Games.

The players are Pradip Khadka, Nishan Shrestha and Swastika Bista, with Renu Devi Konda serving as coach.

The players will train at the Rohan Bopanna Tennis Academy in Bengaluru. After training in Bengaluru, the tennis team will return on September 8. The Tennis Association of Nepal has said Abhishek Bastola and Shivali Gurung, who are also selected for the 20th Asiad, are currently training abroad separately.

The team was seen off at an event on Wednesday by National Sports Council (NSC) vice-chair Bishal Shrestha, NSC member-secretary Ramcharitra Mehta, NSC executive committee member Sikka Suwal Shrestha, and Tennis Association of Nepal president Manoharda Mull, among others.
