Home Minister Shakti Bahadur Basnet said on Friday that the KP Sharma Oli government is making preparations to introduce homeland security policy. Minister Basnet said this at a programme that a council of former police officials had organised in Kathmandu.
Basnet said the government will not only introduce the policy, but will also implement it effectively.
Basnet acknowledged that social, political and economic conditions of the country shape security policies.
Before implementing the national security policy, all sides should have a concerted view on the present condition of the country, he said.
Former senior superintendent of police, Chuda Bahadur Shrestha, said broad discussions are a must at a time when preparations are afoot to introduce the national security policy.
