FACE-OFF: Government-sponsored Charter Amendment Bill is pulling PM Prachanda and CPN-UML Chair KP Oli further apart.

Kathmandu, December 1

While CPN-UML lawmakers were protesting against the government-sponsored Constitution Amendment Bill, prying eyes of Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ were looking for someone in the crowd.

It did not take PM Prachanda much longer to locate the person. CPN-UML Chair KP Sharma Oli was not so far away from him. After Speaker Onsari Gharti announced postponement of the Parliament meeting, PM Prachanda headed towards Oli.

What did UML Chair Oli and PM Prachanda talk about? According to CPN-UML lawmaker Rabindra Adhikari, who was sitting close to Oli at that time, PM Prachanda proposed to Oli: Let’s hold talks and sort out the matter.

UML Chair Oli reportedly gave a terse reply: I do not even want to look at your face.

Hearing this, lawmakers sitting close to Oli had a hearty laugh.

PM said he was serious about solving the problem, wherein Oli suggested: If so, start preparations for three-tier polls — local, provincial and federal.
