Nepal Covid-19 tally: 8,136 PCR and 67 antigen cases added in 24 hours; death toll up by 196

Kathmandu, May 18

The Ministry of Health and Population has informed that the country’s Covid-19 tally has reached 472,354 as of Tuesday afternoon.

The ministry says 8,136 new cases were confirmed in the country in the past 24 hours.

In this period, 20,286 swab samples were tested. So far, 2 million and 812,959 people have been tested in the country.

Likewise, 693 people underwent antigen tests for the virus, of which an additional 67 tested positive.

As of today, there are 114,529 active cases across the country. Of them, 7,447 are hospitalised, 1,590 in intensive care units, and 390 on ventilators.

In the past 24 hours, 6,891 people have achieved recovery whereas 196 deaths have been reported. Nepal’s recovery rate is 74.6 per cent.

Of the total cases so far, 352,414 people have achieved recovery. Likewise, 5,411 died, according to the ministry.

Over 700 are quarantined across the country.
