Nepal Covid-19 tally: 4,904 new cases, 5,924 recoveries, 6 deaths in 24 hours

Kathmandu, January 29

The Ministry of Health and Population has informed that Nepal’s Covid-19 tally has reached 1,073,836 as of Saturday afternoon.

The ministry said 4,904 new cases were confirmed in the country in the past 24 hours.

In this period, 10,101 swab samples were tested in the RT-PCR method, of which returned 3,318 returned positive. Likewise, 4,461 underwent antigen tests for the virus, of which an additional 1,586 tested positive.

Of total tests, 32.84 per cent of the PCR and 35.55 per cent of antigen samples returned positive, keeping the overall per-day positivity rate at 33.67 per cent.

As of today, there are 89,941 active cases across the country. Of them, 1,693 are hospitalised, 286 in intensive care units, and 47 on ventilators.

In the past 24 hours, 5,432 people have achieved recovery whereas the government says there were six deaths today.

Of the total cases so far, 848,360 people have achieved recovery. Likewise, 11,703 died, according to the ministry. The country’s recovery rate is 89.5 per cent and the death rate is 1.4 per cent.

Meanwhile, 272,748 people were vaccinated today.
