Nepal Covid-19 tally: 280 new cases, 366 recoveries, 2 deaths in 24 hours

Kathmandu, December 8

The Ministry of Health and Population has informed that Nepal’s Covid-19 tally has reached 919,044 as of Wednesday afternoon.

The ministry said 280 new cases were confirmed in the country in the past 24 hours.

In this period, 9,168 swab samples were tested in the RT-PCR method, of which returned 255 returned positive. Likewise, 3,006 people underwent antigen tests for the virus, of which an additional 25 tested positive.

Of total tests, 2.78 per cent of the PCR and 0.83 per cent of antigen samples returned positive, keeping the overall per-day positivity rate at 2.29 per cent.

As of today, there are 6,239 active cases across the country. Of them, 326 are hospitalised, 128 in intensive care units and 29 on ventilators.

In the past 24 hours, 366 people have achieved recovery whereas two deaths were reported.

Of the total cases so far, 805,571 people have achieved recovery. Likewise, 11,547 died, according to the ministry. The country’s recovery rate is 97.8 per cent and the death rate is 1.4 per cent.

Meanwhile, 283,132 people were vaccinated today.
