Nepal Covid-19 tally: 968 new cases, 262 recoveries, 0 deaths in 24 hours

Kathmandu, January 7

The Ministry of Health and Population has informed that Nepal’s Covid-19 tally has reached 927,893 as of Friday afternoon.

The ministry said 968 new cases were confirmed in the country in the past 24 hours.

In this period, 8,272 swab samples were tested in the RT-PCR method, of which returned 572 returned positive. Likewise, 6,699 people underwent antigen tests for the virus, of which an additional 396 tested positive.

Of total tests, 6.91 per cent of the PCR and 5.91 per cent of antigen samples returned positive, keeping the overall per-day positivity rate at 6.46 per cent.

As of today, there are 5,741 active cases across the country. Of them, 455 are hospitalised, 81 in intensive care units and 15 on ventilators.

In the past 24 hours, 262 people have achieved recovery whereas the government says there were 0 deaths today.

Of the total cases so far, 813,709 people have achieved recovery. Likewise, 11,602 died, according to the ministry. The country’s recovery rate is 97.9 per cent and the death rate is 1.4 per cent.

Meanwhile, 263,371 people were vaccinated today.
