Nepal Covid-19 tally: 8,064 PCR and 109 antigen cases in 24 hours; death toll up by 246

Kathmandu, May 19

The Ministry of Health and Population has informed that the country’s Covid-19 tally has reached 480,418 as of Wednesday afternoon.

The ministry says 8,064 new cases were confirmed in the country in the past 24 hours.

In this period, 21,139 swab samples were tested. So far, 2 million and 834,098 people have been tested in the country.

Likewise, 708 people underwent antigen tests for the virus, of which an additional 109 tested positive.

As of today, there are 114,358 active cases across the country. Of them, 7,447 are hospitalised, 1,618 in intensive care units, and 381 on ventilators.

In the past 24 hours, 7,989 people have achieved recovery whereas 246 deaths have been reported. Nepal’s recovery rate is 75 per cent.

Of the total cases so far, 360,403 people have achieved recovery. Likewise, 5,657 died, according to the ministry.

Over 850 are quarantined across the country.
