Nepal Covid-19 tally: 5,583 new cases, 8,267 recoveries, 9 deaths in 24 hours

Kathmandu, February 1

The Ministry of Health and Population has informed that Nepal’s Covid-19 tally has reached 1,088,251 as of Tuesday afternoon.

The ministry said 5,583 new cases were confirmed in the country in the past 24 hours.

In this period, 10,776 swab samples were tested in the RT-PCR method, of which returned 3,657 returned positive. Likewise, 6,898 underwent antigen tests for the virus, of which an additional 1,923 tested positive.

Of total tests, 33.93 per cent of the PCR and 27.87 per cent of antigen samples returned positive, keeping the overall per-day positivity rate at 31.58 per cent.

As of today, there are 74,653 active cases across the country. Of them, 1,475 are hospitalised, 279 in intensive care units and 50 on ventilators.

In the past 24 hours, 8,267 people have achieved recovery whereas the government says there were 9 deaths today.

Of the total cases so far, 871,165 people have achieved recovery. Likewise, 11,752 died, according to the ministry. The country’s recovery rate is 91 per cent and the death rate is 1.3 per cent.

Meanwhile, 399,000 people were vaccinated today.
