Nepal Covid-19 tally: 513 new cases, 817 recoveries, 8 deaths in 24 hours

Kathmandu, October 23

The Ministry of Health and Population has informed that Nepal’s Covid-19 tally has reached 902,514 as of Saturday afternoon.

The ministry said 513 new cases were confirmed in the country in the past 24 hours.

In this period, 4,972 swab samples were tested in the RT-PCR method, of which returned 438 returned positive. Likewise, 1,959 people underwent antigen tests for the virus, of which an additional 75 tested positive.

Of total tests, 8.8 per cent of the PCR and 3.82 per cent of antigen samples returned positive, keeping the overall per-day positivity rate at 7.4 per cent.

As of today, there are 10,559 active cases across the country. Of them, 802 are hospitalised, 268 in intensive care units and 80 on ventilators.

In the past 24 hours, 817 people have achieved recovery whereas eight deaths have been reported.

Of the total cases so far, 786,630 people have achieved recovery. Likewise, 11,345 died, according to the ministry. The country’s recovery rate is 97.3 per cent and the death rate is 1.4 per cent.

Meanwhile, 63,074 people were vaccinated today.
