Nepal Covid-19 tally: 3,540 new cases, 6,359 recoveries, 32 deaths in 24 hours

Kathmandu, January 30

The Ministry of Health and Population has informed that Nepal’s Covid-19 tally has reached 1,077,376 as of Sunday afternoon.

The ministry said 3,540 new cases were confirmed in the country in the past 24 hours.

In this period, 9,910 swab samples were tested in the RT-PCR method, of which returned 3,049 returned positive. Likewise, 3,235 underwent antigen tests for the virus, of which an additional 491 tested positive.

Of total tests, 30.8 per cent of the PCR and 15.17 per cent of antigen samples returned positive, keeping the overall per-day positivity rate at 26.93 per cent.

As of today, there are 83,999 active cases across the country.

In the past 24 hours, 6,359 people have achieved recovery whereas the government says there were 32 deaths today. The ministry said that the deaths were recorded between January 27 and January 30.

Of the total cases so far, 854,719 people have achieved recovery. Likewise, 11,735 died, according to the ministry. The country’s recovery rate is 89.5 per cent and the death rate is 1.4 per cent.
