Nepal Covid-19 tally: 326 new cases, 255 recoveries, 2 deaths in 24 hours

Kathmandu, January 3

The Ministry of Health and Population has informed that Nepal’s Covid-19 tally has reached 925,557 as of Monday afternoon.

The ministry said 326 new cases were confirmed in the country in the past 24 hours.

In this period, 9,700 swab samples were tested in the RT-PCR method, of which returned 291 returned positive. Likewise, 2,798 people underwent antigen tests for the virus, of which an additional 35 tested positive.

Of total tests, 3 per cent of the PCR and 1.25 per cent of antigen samples returned positive, keeping the overall per-day positivity rate at 2.60 per cent.

As of today, there are 5,005 active cases across the country. Of them, 252 are hospitalised, 89 in intensive care units and 21 on ventilators.

In the past 24 hours, 255 people have achieved recovery whereas the government says there were two deaths today.

Of the total cases so far, 812,674 people have achieved recovery. Likewise, 11,598 died, according to the ministry. The country’s recovery rate is 98 per cent and the death rate is 1.4 per cent.

Meanwhile, 344,044 people were vaccinated today.
