Nepal Covid-19 tally: 3,075 new cases, 278 recoveries, 2 deaths in 24 hours

Kathmandu, January 12

The Ministry of Health and Population has informed that Nepal’s Covid-19 tally has reached 936,969 as of Wednesday afternoon.

The ministry said 3,075 new cases were confirmed in the country in the past 24 hours.

In this period, 9,051 swab samples were tested in the RT-PCR method, of which returned 2,448 returned positive. Likewise, 3,985 people underwent antigen tests for the virus, of which an additional 627 tested positive.

Of total tests, 27.04 per cent of the PCR and 15.73 per cent of antigen samples returned positive, keeping the overall per-day positivity rate at 23.58 per cent.

As of today, there are 11,690 active cases across the country. Of them, 880 are hospitalised, 87 in intensive care units and 22 on ventilators.

In the past 24 hours, 278 people have achieved recovery whereas the government says there were two deaths today.

Of the total cases so far, 815,175 people have achieved recovery. Likewise, 11,609 died, according to the ministry. The country’s recovery rate is 97.5 per cent and the death rate is 1.4 per cent.

Meanwhile, 214,057 people were vaccinated today.
