Nepal Covid-19 tally: 262 new cases, 1,338 recoveries, 4 deaths in 24 hours

Kathmandu, February 20

The Ministry of Health and Population has informed that Nepal’s Covid-19 tally has reached 1,114,156 as of Sunday afternoon.

The ministry said 262 new cases were confirmed in the country in the past 24 hours.

In this period, 6,572 swab samples were tested in the RT-PCR method, of which returned 229 returned positive. Likewise, 3,243 underwent antigen tests for the virus, of which an additional 33 tested positive.

Of total tests, 3.48 per cent of the PCR and 1.01 per cent of antigen samples returned positive, keeping the overall per-day positivity rate at 2.66 per cent.

As of today, there are 12,244 active cases across the country. Of them, 490 are hospitalised, 136 in intensive care units and 14 on ventilators.

In the past 24 hours, 1,338 people have achieved recovery whereas the government says there were four deaths today.

Of the total cases so far, 950,318 people have achieved recovery. Likewise, 11,921 died, according to the ministry. The country’s recovery rate is 97.5 per cent and the death rate is 1.2 per cent.

Meanwhile, 33,254 people were vaccinated today.
