Nepal Covid-19 tally: 2,004 new cases, 1,846 recoveries, 16 deaths in 24 hours

The Ministry of Health and Population has informed that Nepal’s Covid-19 tally has reached 850,208 as of Thursday afternoon.

The ministry said 2,004 new cases were confirmed in the country in the past 24 hours.

In this period, 10,658 swab samples were tested in the RT-PCR method, of which returned 1,619 returned positive. Likewise, 3,992 people underwent antigen tests for the virus, of which an additional 385 tested positive.

Of total tests, 15.19 per cent of the PCR and 9.64 per cent of antigen samples returned positive, keeping the overall per-day positivity rate at 13.67 per cent.

As of today, there are 33,946 active cases across the country. Of them, 2,327 are hospitalised, 544 in intensive care units and 166 on ventilators.

In the past 24 hours, 1,846 people have achieved recovery whereas 16 deaths have been reported.

Of the total cases so far, 721,182 people have achieved recovery. Likewise, 10,786 died, according to the ministry. The country’s recovery rate is 94.2 per cent and the death rate 1.5 per cent.
