Nepal Covid-19 tally: 1,677 new cases, 2,072 recoveries, 21 deaths in 24 hours

Kathmandu, September 7

The Ministry of Health and Population has informed that Nepal’s Covid-19 tally has reached 857,895 as of Tuesday afternoon.

The ministry said 1,677 new cases were confirmed in the country in the past 24 hours.

In this period, 11,111 swab samples were tested in the RT-PCR method, of which returned 1,423 returned positive. Likewise, 3,923 people underwent antigen tests for the virus, of which an additional 254 tested positive.

Of total tests, 12.81 per cent of the PCR and 6.47 per cent of antigen samples returned positive, keeping the overall per-day positivity rate at 11.54 per cent.

As of today, there are 30,303 active cases across the country. Of them, 1,989 are hospitalised, 514 in intensive care units and 154 on ventilators.

In the past 24 hours, 2,072 people have achieved recovery whereas 21 deaths have been reported.

Of the total cases so far, 731,000 people have achieved recovery. Likewise, 10,879 died, according to the ministry. The country’s recovery rate is 94.67 per cent and the death rate is 1.41 per cent.

Meanwhile, 80,400 people were vaccinated today.
