Nepal Covid-19 tally: 10,703 new cases, 766 recoveries, 3 deaths in 24 hours

Kathmandu, January 21

The Ministry of Health and Population has informed that Nepal’s Covid-19 tally has reached 1,006,591 as of Friday afternoon.

The ministry said 10,703 new cases were confirmed in the country in the past 24 hours.

In this period, 18,618 swab samples were tested in the RT-PCR method, of which returned 8,815 returned positive. Likewise, 4,474 people underwent antigen tests for the virus, of which an additional 1,888 tested positive.

Of total tests, 47.34 per cent of the PCR and 42.19 per cent of antigen samples returned positive, keeping the overall per-day positivity rate at 46.34 per cent.

As of today, there are 65,374 active cases across the country. Of them, 1,640 are hospitalised, 194 in intensive care units and 35 on ventilators.

In the past 24 hours, 766 people have achieved recovery whereas the government says there were three deaths today.

Of the total cases so far, 819,575 people have achieved recovery. Likewise, 11,635 died, according to the ministry. The country’s recovery rate is 94.2 per cent and the death rate is 1.4 per cent.

Meanwhile, 307,401 people were vaccinated today.
