Historic triumph as Nepal beats West Indies in T20I

Nepal secured a historic victory against the West Indies in their first T20I match. In the game held on Saturday, Nepal defeated the West Indies by 19 runs.

Chasing a target of 149 runs set by Nepal, the West Indies could only manage 129 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in 20 overs.

Navin Bidaisee top-scored for the West Indies with 22 runs. Amir Jangoo and Keacy Carty both contributed 19 runs each.

For Nepal, Kushal Bhurtel bowled 4 overs, conceding just 17 runs and taking 2 wickets. Similarly, captain Rohit Paudel, Karan KC, Dipendra Singh Airee, and Nandan Yadav took one wicket each.

Earlier, losing the toss and being invited to bat first, Nepal scored 148 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in 20 overs.

For Nepal, captain Rohit Paudel top-scored with 38 runs off 35 balls, hitting 3 fours and 1 six. Kushal Malla made 30 runs off 21 balls with 2 fours and 2 sixes. Gulshan Jha scored 22 runs, while Dipendra Singh Airee added 17 runs.

After losing 2 wickets for just 12 runs, Paudel and Malla shared a 58-run partnership for the third wicket. However, Nepal could not finish strongly and was restricted below 150.

For the West Indies, Jason Holder bowled 4 overs, conceding 20 runs and taking 4 wickets. On his debut, Navin Bidaisee picked up 3 wickets for 29 runs in 4 overs. Captain Akeal Hosein claimed 1 wicket.

Until now, Nepal had only played against teams like India, Afghanistan, and Bangladesh in major tournaments, but had never managed to defeat a full Member nation.

Today, in this historic match against the West Indies, Nepal finally achieved a historic victory.
