NCP secretariat endorses Paudel-led task force

A meeting of the NCP secretariat

Kathmandu, August 17

The ruling Nepal Communist Party has endorsed a task force formed by two chairmen of the party, KP Sharma Oli and Pushpa Kamal Dahal, to suggest solutions to the existing dispute between them.

The two leaders had formed the six-member panel led by the party’s General Secretary Bishnu Paudel. Following the formation of the panel, a few secretariat members including Jhala Nath Khanal, Madhav Kumar Nepal, and Narayan Kaji Shrestha had objected to the decision citing the secretariat should have done that.

Following the objection, the party leadership had called a secretariat meeting for this morning in order to endorse the panel.

The task force has Bhim Rawal, Surendra Pandey, Shankar Pokhrel, Janardan Sharma, and Pampha Bhusal as members. It has already begun its task on Saturday.

The ruling party is in a crisis for the past two months since a majority of the standing committee members including Dahal, Nepal, Khanal, and Shrestha, questioned Oli’s leadership. However, it seems to be heading to a solution now.
