NCP dispute: Oli’s absence in secretariat defers standing committee meeting

KP Sharma Oli is absent in the party secretariat meeting, on Wednesday, December 2, 2020.

Kathmandu, December 2

Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli did not attend the scheduled secretariat meeting of the ruling Nepal Communist Party on Wednesday.

Earlier on Tuesday, Oli, who is currently in minority in the party’s nine-member secretariat, had tried his best to cancel the next meeting as it was likely to discuss two political documents tabled by him and another chairman of the party, Pushpa Kamal Dahal.

Of late, the dispute between the two chairs has reached its peak in the ruling party with Oli accusing Dahal of plotting the party split and Dahal claiming Oli undermined the party decisions.

As Oli was absent today, the meeting did not discuss any item of the agenda.

The party spokesperson Narayan Kaji Shrestha says the next secretariat meeting would be held on Saturday.

Meanwhile, the party’s standing committee meeting scheduled for Wednesday has also been deferred until Sunday due to the postponement of secretariat meeting.
