NC names candidates for National Assembly, list still incomplete

Kathmandu, January 23

The Nepali Congress has made public an incomplete list of candidates for National Assembly elections as the leadership engages in negotiations with other parties to forge alliances in provinces 1,2 and 3.

A meeting of the office bearers at the Prime Minister’s residence, Baluwatar, came up with a list of nominees from provinces 4, 5, 6 and 7, said the party. Names of candidates representing the remaining provinces will be made public soon, leaders said.

Those nominated from Province No 4 are: Surendra Raj Pande, Brinda Ranamagar, Jit Bahadur Nepali, and Prakash Pant. Similarly, Durga Prasad Upadhyay, Anita Devkota, Maikulal Balmiki, and Loot Bahadur Khatri will contest the elections on behalf of the Nepali Congress from Province No 5.

Similarly, those nominated by the party from Province No 6 are: Bishnu Bahadur Sahi, Surya Devi Malla, Sitaram BK, and Gopal Sharma.
Badri Pande, Tara Devi Bhatta, Dharma Raj Joshi and Sheri Ram Parki (Dalit) have been chosen from Province No 7.
