Three members of the board of directors of the national flag carrier, Nepal Airlines Corporation (NAC), have complained the corporation staff blocked them from attending board meetings. They claim Tourism and Civil Aviation Minister Prem Ale has been supporting the staff.

Recently, the staff had launched a protest against NAC Managing Director Dim Prasad Paudel and board members Iswari Paudel and Fur Gelje Sherpa. They claim these three officials are involved in private airline operations in the country and their participation in the NAC board amounts to a conflict of interest.

The corporation has been a victim of politicisation for decades and it has continued during Ale’s ministership also. Ale has appointed Ubaraj Adhikari as the executive chairman of the board, strategically curtailing the rights of Dim Prasad Paudel appointed by former tourism minister Yogesh Bhattarai.
