A mountain flight has started from Nepalgunj that will take tourists close to the Nepal-China border to get a glimpse of Mount Kailash and Mansarovar Lake.

This venture is expected to pull many Indian tourists who have been barred from entering the region after the Covid pandemic.

A test flight was conducted where 38 Indians who came to Nepalgunj from different parts of India boarded a Shree Airlines flight to get a glimpse of Mount Kailash from a height of about 27,000 feet.

The 75-minute flight has opened a new tourism opportunity for Nepal, believe stakeholders of Nepali tourism.

Kailash Mansarovar yatra coming to a halt has impacted many Nepali businesses.

Around 12,000 tourists travelled to Kailash via Nepal every year before the Covid pandemic.
