Police arrest fellow officer

Police have arrested a fellow officer on charges of being involved in a gold stealing case. Kathmandu Metropolitan Police have arrested ASI Pritam Lama on Tuesday.

Police spokesperson DSP Hobindra Bogati confirmed the police had taken Lama under custody and that a detailed investigation was underway. Police believe that Lama was involved in the gold stealing case in Bouddha on September 20.

PM gives students cash

Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has presented cash gifts for the students under his guardianship. PM Oli had announced the guardianship of the students from Ramdulari Secondary School in Siraha and two other schools from Mugu districts. Each student will be provided Rs 5,000 for the expense on the occasion of Dashain, the biggest festival of Nepalis.

Nepal lose to Zimbabwe

Nepal lost to Zimbabwe by 40 runs during the T20 Tri-Series at the Indian Association Ground in Singapore, on Tuesday. Chasing a stiff target of 161 for victory, Nepal could only manage 120/9 in 20 overs. With this victory, Zimbabwe top the three-team table with 4 points from three matches. Nepal play hosts Singapore on Wednesday.

Land mafias capture public land again

Around one ropani of Guthi land next to Khula Manch is under the grasp of land mafias. The land is being used as if it’s personal property. Locals say that land mafias with the help from Kathmandu Metropolitan City and the Guthi Sansthan have set up temporary shops in the public land. Campaigner Sushan Baidya believes that the land mafias are earning around Rs 700,000 from the public land.

CIAA investigating Janakpur Zonal Hospital

The anti-corruption constitutional body, CIAA, is investigating Janakpur Zonal Hospital as it received complaints of financial irregularities while purchasing equipment for the hospital. The CIAA’s Bardibas team has started the investigation from Tuesday. The CIAA has received both written and verbal complaints. A four-member team is investigating the case. The eam has taken statements from Medical Superintendent Nagendra Yadav, accountants and storekeepers. After recording statements, the CIAA will then tally the bills of the purchased equipment.

Million leave Kathmandu, say traffic police

Around one million people have left Kathmandu to celebrate the Dashain festival. According to the Metropolitan Police Traffic Division (MPTD), a total of 992, 867 passengers departed from Kathmandu as of Tuesday. Similarly, a total of 119, 467 vehicles have been used to transport the passengers. Help desks have been put up at 14 different places to help passengers in the capital.
